Healthcare Decision Coaching
Healthcare Decision Coaching
Decision coaching is a non-directive service that helps people improve their decision-making process. It is not medical or mental healthcare. The goal is to help people make informed decisions that align with their values. Decision coaches can help people in a variety of situations, including healthcare, work, and life . An article here and one here can help show peer reviewed evidence of the potential benefits of Decision Coaching.
While I can offer Decision Coaching in many areas of life, my area of expertise is focused around healthcare and orthopedic decisions. This is born out of years of experience in the clinic. This can include but is not limited to: the life-style implications of joint replacement surgery; the ability to continue to care for a loved one with a disability; how and why you are not making time to prioritize your health in an increasingly busy life; how to feel like a healthcare provider really listens to you and answers your questions; and so much more.
Just like with Physical Therapy or Personal Training, I do not believe Decision Coaching should be a regularly scheduled requirement. Instead, I believe sessions should be on an as-needed basis. My goal is to help you consider and consolidate information, and then for you to be equipped to make the best decision for you and your life.
